Accreditation

Our undergraduate mass communication and public relations programs are accredited by ACEJMC, the Accrediting Council on Education in Journalism and Mass Communications. Accreditation means we are meeting national standards with our facilities, faculty, curriculum, diversity, and student learning.

The department bases its curricula on the professional values and competencies advocated by ACEJMC. These include understanding the importance of free speech and a free press, writing cogently, applying communication theory, doing communication research, valuing a diverse society, thinking critically and independently, and working ethically.

Below is an up-to date chart reflecting retention and graduation data for our department, representative of the Fall 2022 cohort. The data are the most up-to-date as of Aug. 15, 2023. The chart can be downloaded in Excel format from this link.
